Week 8 of our RCFE/ARF Startup Series: From LLC to First Client
Congratulations — you’ve made it to the final week of our startup series. You’re licensed, staffed, operational, and you have your first referral. Now it’s time to admit your first resident and deliver the experience that will define your facility’s reputation from day one.

Delivering an Outstanding First Experience
Your first resident and their family will talk to others. Hospitals, physicians, and social workers will ask how it went. Here’s how to make it exceptional:
- Over-communicate early — Call the family after the first night and first week to share how the resident is settling in
- Personalize the welcome — Learn their preferences (favorite foods, TV shows, hobbies) before they arrive
- Solve problems immediately — Any concern in the first 30 days sets the tone; address everything promptly and document your response
- Ask for feedback — At 30 days, ask the resident and family what’s working and what could be better
